Researched 17 September 2026. Fares verified against official sources — Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon Transit Corporation, Incheon International Airport Corporation and the road operators. Each figure notes when that fare took effect. Taxi estimates are KakaoMap route-search figures, with traffic and surcharges excluded. Where we could not confirm something, we say “unconfirmed” rather than guess. Korean, Japanese and Chinese versions are also published.
The route from Incheon International Airport into Seoul is covered in the earlier article. This one is about getting from the airport into Incheon itself. And Incheon has one item no other city has. The price of crossing a bridge.
Three things to read first
One. There is no out-of-city surcharge going from the airport into Incheon. Incheon Airport taxis operate inside a joint business zone made up of 6 local authorities — Incheon, Seoul, Goyang, Gimpo, Bucheon and Gwangmyeong. As long as you are going somewhere inside those six, there is no out-of-city surcharge. If the surcharge is on from the moment you set off, that is the scam.
Two. Tolls are separate from the meter. The airport is on Yeongjong Island and central Incheon is on the other side of the water. Unless your trip ends on the island itself, as it does at Eurwangni, you have to cross either Yeongjong Bridge or Incheon Bridge, and that toll is charged separately from the fare. The amounts are below.
Three. In Incheon there are stretches where the bus is cheaper than the subway. To Chinatown the subway is ₩4,450 and the bus is ₩2,500. That is different from Seoul and Busan.

The subway from the airport into Incheon costs in the ₩4,000s. A taxi is somewhere around ₩40,000. About nine times the difference.
The Guwol-dong row is Incheon City’s official figure; the rest are from KakaoMap route search. Leaving from T2 adds about ₩600 to the subway fare.
⚠️ Why Eurwangni alone has a ₩0 toll
Eurwangni is on Yeongjong Island. You do not cross a bridge to get there from the airport. Chinatown, Bupyeong and Songdo, by contrast, all require a bridge crossing. By taxi a toll is added on top of the fare, and the figure KakaoMap returned was about ₩2,000 for all three.
The ₩19,100 taxi to Eurwangni covers 13 km. That is less than half the distance to central Incheon (30–34 km), and the price is lower than half as well. Because you do not cross a bridge.
💡 The bus is cheaper to Chinatown. Take seat bus 306 and change at Bangchuk Samgeori to trunk bus 15 and it is ₩2,500 and 1 hour 14 minutes. That is ₩1,950 cheaper than the subway (₩4,450, 1 hour 11 minutes) and 3 minutes slower. Without much luggage, the bus is the better option.
The price of crossing a bridge — an item only Incheon has
Incheon International Airport sits on Yeongjong Island. To reach the mainland you have to cross either Yeongjong Bridge or Incheon Bridge. Both are toll roads.

These fares took effect at 00:00 on 18 December 2025. For a small car it fell from ₩5,500 to ₩2,000. That is ₩1,600 for the privately financed section plus ₩400 for the state-funded connecting road.
Light cars, people with disabilities and holders of national merit status (grades 6–7) get 50% off, electric and hydrogen vehicles 30% off, and the three-day Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays are free.
Yeongjong Bridge (Incheon International Airport Expressway)

These fares took effect at 00:00 on 1 October 2023. For a small car it fell from ₩6,600 to ₩3,200, a cut of about 52%.
⚠️ Why people get confused about whether Yeongjong Bridge is ₩3,200 or ₩1,900
The tollgates are different. The full section from the Incheon Airport tollgate is ₩3,200; taking only the lower road and exiting at Buk-Incheon IC is ₩1,900; the Cheongna tollgate is ₩2,000. That is why both figures circulate online. From the airport towards Seoul or Incheon on the expressway, ₩3,200 is the one that applies.
Residents of Yeongjong, Yongyu and Bukdo have crossed both Yeongjong Bridge and Incheon Bridge free since 1 October 2023 (1 vehicle per household, 1 return trip per day).
⚠️ On taxis charging the toll separately — this is something we could not confirm
Nowhere in the taxi guidance from Incheon International Airport Corporation or Incheon Metropolitan City is there an explicit statement that the passenger pays the toll. The fare structure means the toll is not included in the metered fare, but we could not find official grounds for it, so we will not state it as fact.
What is certain is this — if you are charged a toll, ask what the amount is. For a small passenger car, Incheon Bridge is ₩2,000 and the full section of Yeongjong Bridge is ₩3,200. If you are asked for far more than that as a toll, check the basis for it.

Surcharges — late night comes in two tiers

Incheon’s late-night surcharge comes in two tiers. 22:00–23:00 and 02:00–04:00 are 20%, and only the most expensive window, 23:00–02:00, is 40%. Lumping it together and demanding 40% for any hour of the night is an excessive charge.
⚠️ The 30% out-of-city surcharge applies only when you leave those six areas
Incheon, Seoul, Goyang, Gimpo, Bucheon and Gwangmyeong. Inside those six there is no out-of-city surcharge. Go beyond them — to Suwon, Ansan, Siheung, Anyang or Seongnam — and 30% is added from the point where you cross the boundary. If the out-of-city surcharge is on for a trip from the airport into Incheon, that is the scam.

💡 Terminal 2 has separate stands for Incheon, Gyeonggi and Seoul taxis. If you are heading into Incheon, that is 5D. Queue in the Seoul taxi line without knowing this and the out-of-city question makes the conversation complicated.

Subway and bus

The base fare covers up to 10 km. Beyond 10 km it adds ₩100 every 5 km up to 50 km, and ₩100 every 8 km beyond 50 km. These fares took effect from the first train on 28 June 2025 (up from ₩1,400).
💡 Board before 06:30 and you get 20% off. The early-bird discount applies to the base fare of your first ride. Worth taking if you land on an early flight and set off straight away.
Transfers
With a transit card, changing within 30 minutes of tapping out costs no extra up to 10 km. Beyond 10 km it is ₩100 every 5 km.
The limit on how many transfers are allowed is not stated on Incheon Transit Corporation’s guidance page, so we could not confirm it.
City buses
These fares took effect on 7 October 2023. The subway went up in 2025, but bus fares are still at their 2023 level.

Seat and wide-area fares vary by route and are published only as a range. The individual fares we confirmed are ₩2,600 on route 303 (airport to Guwol-dong), ₩1,600 on route 111 (airport to Eurwangni) and ₩2,100 on route 306 (airport to Eurwangni).

⚠️ The express train is useless for a trip to Incheon. It runs non-stop between Seoul Station and Incheon Airport. It does not call anywhere in Incheon. If Incheon is where you are going, take the commuter train.
Around Yeongjong Island · Ganghwa Island · the islands
Yeongjong Island
For getting around Yeongjong Island, seat buses 111 and 306 run towards Eurwangni and Wangsan. Route 307 passes Sammok Ferry Terminal (connecting with boats to Sindo, Sido and Modo).
Route numbers and fares towards Masian and Gueup Ferry Terminal could not be confirmed. Incheon City’s bus information system blocks automated collection, so we could not obtain the official route table.
The Gueup Ferry Terminal ↔ Wolmido car ferry is running. Adults ₩3,500, primary school children ₩1,000, light passenger car ₩6,500. On weekdays it departs Wolmido 08:00–18:00 and Yeongjong Island 07:30–18:30. From mid-October to mid-February the last boat is an hour earlier.
Ganghwa Island
Ganghwa County is also Incheon. These are the buses into Ganghwa Terminal.

⚠️ Route 60-5 goes to Gimpo Airport. Not Incheon International Airport. Whether there is a direct route from Incheon International Airport to Ganghwa Island could not be confirmed.
Fares on the Ganghwa routes are not listed in Ganghwa County’s guidance, so we could not confirm them. Wikipedia still gives ₩1,250 for routes 70 and 90, but that figure died on 7 October 2023.
Boats to the islands
These are the fares to Deokjeokdo from the Incheon Port Coastal Passenger Terminal. They are weekday fares; weekends, peak season and public holidays add 10%, and the fuel surcharge is extra.

⚠️ Yeongheungdo is not a place you reach by boat. It is connected to the mainland by Yeongheung Bridge. If you see guidance that says “take the boat to Yeongheungdo,” that is an old story.
The Wolmi Sea Train and the Maglev line
The Wolmi Sea Train is closed on Mondays (if the Monday is a public holiday it runs as normal and closes the next weekday instead).

In peak season (April–October) it runs Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10:00–19:00 and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10:00–18:00. Off-season (November–March) it is 10:00–18:00 every day. You may re-board once on the same day. Enquiries 032-450-7600.
⚠️ “The Incheon Airport Maglev line has been suspended” is out-of-date information
It did stop in July 2022. But it started running again on 17 October 2025. After 3 years and 3 months.
Its character has changed, though. It is no longer an urban railway but a track facility, run directly by Incheon International Airport Corporation as an experience-oriented, airport-access service. It runs 6.1 km from Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station to Yongyu Station, with 6 stops.
The exact operating days, hours, frequency and fares since the restart could not be confirmed. The plan as of June 2025, while the conversion was being pushed through, was “Tuesday to Sunday 10:00–17:00, every 35 minutes, free,” but those are planning-stage figures. Check with Incheon Airport information before you go.
Obsolete figures still circulating online
Writing the Busan article, we found that a good deal of what is online is a fare that no longer exists. Incheon is the same.

Guidance carrying the old fares is still ranking high in search. If a price differs from what you were told, it may not be a rip-off at all — the guidance may simply be out of date. And the reverse: trusting stale guidance and arguing “isn’t it supposed to be this much?” can cost you.
If you have been overcharged
In Incheon it is 032-120, the Michuhol Call Center. Seoul was 120 and Busan was 051-120. Incheon puts the area code in front. Online there is Gukmin Sinmungo (국민신문고), the government petition portal, and the department in charge is Incheon City’s taxi transport division on 032-440-3825.
Foreign visitors can use the 1330 Korea Travel Hotline for tourist interpretation. (Its operating hours and the number of languages could not be confirmed because the official page blocks automated collection. We will not put a number down.)
Three things you need to file a report
1. The receipt 2. The taxi’s vehicle number 3. The date and time it happened
Once filed, it passes to the district office within 2 to 3 days, and if the district office’s investigation and the driver’s statement confirm a violation, an administrative penalty follows. The whole thing takes 4–8 weeks.
The main categories of violation are refusal of service without good reason, unfair fares, forced ride-sharing, and refusal to issue a receipt or accept card payment.
⚠️ Without a receipt you cannot file at all. This actually happened in Busan — a ₩70,000 demand on a journey the meter puts at ₩20,000, and because no receipt was issued a report was impossible. Pay by card and take the receipt. Photographing the figure on the meter is worth doing too.
Since July 2025 Incheon City has been running proper enforcement against unfair fares and illegal touting around the airport and the Inspire Arena. But we could not find published statistics for the number of cases caught or penalties imposed.
What this article could not confirm
We will put it honestly. The following are items left blank because we could not find an official source.
- Whether the passenger bears the taxi toll — there is no explicit statement anywhere in the airport corporation’s or Incheon City’s guidance.
- The subway fare and journey time to Songdo — the top route-search results were all buses.
- The fare on airport bus 6777 — KakaoMap shows “no fare information.” It reaches Songdo in 45 minutes with no transfer.
- The fare on route 307 to Bupyeong
- Fares on the Ganghwa routes (70, 90, 3000, 60-5)
- Whether there is a direct route from Incheon International Airport to Ganghwa Island
- Operating days, hours, frequency and fares on the Maglev line since the restart
- The Wolmi Sea Train’s headway and the time for one full circuit
- 1330’s operating hours and the number of languages
- The number of administrative penalties for unfair taxi fares in Incheon — the press releases carry no figures at all.
- Whether transfer discounts apply to the airport seat buses (306 and 307) — there is a statement that they apply “from 1 July 2025,” but we could not cross-check it against an official source.
- The late-night surcharge rate for deluxe and large taxis
- The limit on how many transfers are allowed
- When Yeongjong-gu was split off — we confirmed that the Yeongjong-gu district office domain exists, but not when the separation happened.
All the taxi estimates in the tables are KakaoMap route-search figures, daytime and without traffic. The late-night surcharge is added on top.
In short
If the out-of-city surcharge is on for a trip from the airport into Incheon, that is a rip-off. Inside Incheon, Seoul, Goyang, Gimpo, Bucheon and Gwangmyeong there is no out-of-city surcharge.
The late-night surcharge comes in two tiers. Only 23:00–02:00 is 40%; 22:00–23:00 and 02:00–04:00 are 20%.
Tolls are separate. Incheon Bridge is ₩2,000 for a small car, Yeongjong Bridge ₩3,200 for the full section. Places that end on Yeongjong Island, such as Eurwangni, carry no toll.
And what you are choosing between is a subway fare in the ₩4,000s and a taxi at ₩40,000. Without much luggage, take the subway or the bus. To Chinatown the bus is ₩1,950 cheaper than the subway.
Photograph the figure on the meter, pay by card, take the receipt. The three things a report needs are the receipt, the vehicle number and the date and time.
